Monica Catto Exhibits Angeli e Demoni at Galleria Il Leone

Selected for the international exhibition held as part of Rome Art Week 2025

Monica Catto is among the selected artists featured in the Angeli e Demoni exhibition, taking place from October 23 to 31 at Galleria Il Leone, a vibrant hub of contemporary art in the historic center of Rome.

Curated by Claudia Bevilacqua and included in the official program of Rome Art Week 2025, the exhibition presents a compelling dialogue between works that explore the contradictions and dualities inherent to the human condition.

Catto is exhibiting her work Angeli e Demoni (oil and acrylic on canvas, 2020), an emblematic piece that powerfully engages with the archetypal theme of conflict between light and shadow, good and evil—interpreted through a contemporary lens infused with geopolitical and spiritual tension.

The piece unfolds as a kind of visual drama, where symbols of eternal struggle intersect with contemporary reality: wars, ideological clashes, and human suffering, particularly affecting the most vulnerable. Through a dense, layered painting style, Catto invites viewers to confront the complexity of emotions and contradictions that define our time. “I wanted to depict a scene in which the invisible battle between angels and demons becomes a symbol of our inner and collective struggles—a reflection of the tensions that shape our present,” explains the artist.

The Angeli e Demoni exhibition brings together national and international artists, offering a variety of expressive languages—from painting to photography, from sculpture to video art—to explore dualism and its many contemporary interpretations.

Galleria Il Leone thus reaffirms its role as a key space for contemporary art in Rome, providing a prominent stage for artistic exchange and the promotion of emerging and established talents.
