After months of museum visits, workshops, and shared artistic practices, Metropolitan Art 11 reaches its final destination with REACTION, a new multidisciplinary production by Stalker Teatro that transforms the encounter with contemporary art into a stage experience. Created with the participation of citizens, young artists and professional performers, the performance represents the culmination of a journey that, from September to November, has intertwined visual arts, theatre, dance, performance and social participation.

Now in its eleventh edition, Metropolitan Art confirms its mission: to make the languages of contemporary art accessible and to build connections between communities, local territories and the city’s leading cultural institutions. Guided visits to PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Fondazione Merz and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo were not simply opportunities for cultural engagement, but genuine creative devices capable of generating images, reflections and performative materials later developed in laboratories led by Stalker Teatro.

Metropolitan Art 11 | REACTION is composed of three acts, three journeys, three different ways of looking at the world.

I – Camere d’aria draws inspiration from the experiences and artworks encountered at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, leading the audience into a suspended space between imagination and representation.

II – Scale di sedie, inspired by works experienced at PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, transforms materials, bodies and objects into an essential and dynamic scenic score.

III – Le casse dell’oblio, developed from the exhibition Gaza. Il futuro ha un cuore antico at Fondazione Merz and from the stimuli provided by the works of Wael Shawky and Akram Zaatari, addresses themes of memory and collective responsibility, intertwining archaeological artifacts, images and testimonies to raise a question directed at the present: what value does silence assume in the face of destruction? The journey culminates in the warning: “Silence is complicity”, echoing the words of Navi Pillay.

Directed by Gabriele Boccacini, REACTION returns to the public the richness of the experiences shared throughout the project in a performative composition that connects citizens, artists, museums and territory within a single collective narrative.
