REACTION by Stalker Teatro

Friday 7, Saturday 8, Friday 14, Saturday 15 November at 9:00 PM Sunday 16 November at 5:00 PM

Officine CAOS, Piazza Montale 18/a

On the occasion of the tenth edition of the Metropolitan Art project, Stalker Teatro presents REACTION, a new artistic research production developed within the local community.

REACTION emerges as the performative outcome of a co-creation process with local citizens, developed through participatory artistic production practices and art education experiences. Launched in 2015, the Metropolitan Art project aims to bring contemporary art closer to urban outskirts—not through educational mediation, but through the direct production of shared artistic experiences.

The 2025 edition involved two citizen groups—one made up of young artists, the other of non-professional performers of various ages—in a journey that began with visits to three cultural institutions collaborating on the project: Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Merz, and PAV – Parco Arte Vivente. From these guided museum visits, the works of nine artists served as sources of inspiration: Elena Bellantoni, Voluspa Jarpa, Anna Franceschini, Mohamed Bourouissa, Agnes Questionmark (Fondazione Merz), Alessandra Ferrini, Teresa Solar Abboud, Jem Perucchini (Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo), and Alan Sonfist (PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Experimental Center for Contemporary Art).

Under the artistic direction of Gabriele Boccacini, the group developed six scenes, each freely inspired by the aesthetics and ideas of the selected artists. The result is a performance that explores the relationship between different artistic disciplines, offering an experience focused on the social function of contemporary art.

This new performative composition, REACTION, reaffirms Stalker Teatro as one of the most consistent and radical presences in the Italian and international landscape of socially engaged performance art.

PROJECT DETAILS

METROPOLITAN ART 10

A Journey Through the Territory and the Multidisciplinarity of Art  July – December 2025

The tenth anniversary of the Metropolitan Art project in 2025 continues the original approach developed since its inception, in collaboration with the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art. From the first edition to today, the project has evolved while remaining accessible to the entire population and maintaining high quality thanks to partnerships with other museums, including GAM Torino, La Venaria Reale, and Palazzo Madama.

The project’s main focus is the exploration and use of multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary expressive tools, made available to local residents to foster education and training in contemporary art languages, with significant social cohesion outcomes.

In line with Stalker Teatro’s artistic direction—active since 1975 with theatrical animation in the Le Vallette neighborhood in collaboration with the City of Turin—the company, recognized since the 1980s by the Ministry of Culture and the Piedmont Region, promotes contemporary art languages through workshops and participatory artistic production.

Based on Stalker Teatro’s ongoing work in Le Vallette (District 5 of Turin), and with shared planning by two nationally active companies—Company Blu (Florence) and Teatringestazione (Naples)—and the collaboration of local musicians, various actions will take place in several community venues:

  • Lorusso and Cutugno Prison
  • Villa Primule Nursing Home
  • Francesco Cognasso Civic Library
  • Turoldo Comprehensive School
  • The local hub of “Culture Around the Corner” in Le Vallette
  • Officine CAOS
  • Long-standing collaboration with the Mental Health Department of ASL TO

A key feature of Metropolitan Art is its ability to connect Le Vallette with the rest of the city through a network of relationships with many community groups in District 5, offering events that attract residents citywide and foster interaction with major cultural institutions: Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Fondazione Merz, and PAV – Parco Arte Vivente.

PROGRAM

Guided Tours

Over three scheduled days, free guided tours will be offered via organized buses to the contemporary art museums participating in the project. Additionally, on Wednesday the 24th, there will be a visit to historic buildings in the Le Vallette neighborhood, led by operators from the Historical Documentation Center of District 5. The artworks on display will serve as inspiration and pretexts for the creation of performances. Some tour participants may join workshops to help stage the new show REACTION.

Participating museums:

PAV – Parco Arte Vivente, Experimental Center for Contemporary Art

  • Fondazione Merz
  • Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo

PRODUCTION PROJECT

REACTION by Stalker Teatro  Workshop with young artists Following the museum visits, a community theater production experience will be developed, focusing on socially engaged art. The rehearsals for the various performances will be conducted in synergy between the two participant groups, culminating in five public presentations of the performative composition.

Workshop with interested citizens Citizens interested in theatrical experimentation will participate in a performance creation workshop. As in previous editions, REACTION will feature harmonious collective actions by performers of different ages and cultural backgrounds.

Dress Rehearsals Three days of dress rehearsals will be dedicated to assembling the various performances prepared during the two workshops. The scenes will be created through the complementary contributions of both groups, each offering a meaningful addition to the shared event composed of multiple performance segments, realized alongside Stalker Teatro’s performers.

PERFORMANCE

Friday 7, Saturday 8, Friday 14, Saturday 15 November at 9:00 PM Sunday 16 November at 5:00 PM
